Karlos L. Marshall provides strategic direction in the areas of community and neighborhood partnerships for the University of Dayton. This includes collective impact strategies such as the Dayton Civic Scholars and Neighborhood School Centers programs; which leverages asset-based community development with nonprofits, school districts, neighborhood associations, government agencies, and grassroots organizers.

Karlos is also the Co-Founder and President of The Conscious Connect, Inc., a nonprofit that establishes Children's Equity Zones in Southwest Ohio — at the intersections of urban education, neighborhood revitalization, and community redevelopment. His work as a social entrepreneur has led to some of the following recognitions: Forbes '30 Under 30,' U.S. Library of Congress Literacy Awards Best Practice Honoree, International Literacy Association '30 Under 30,' Top Idea for the Global Early Childhood Education Innovation Prize (OpenIDEO), and Future of Higher Education Global Challenge Honorable Mention (U.S. Department of Education and OpenIDEO).
