Nairuti Shastry is the Community Partnership Specialist at the Center for Social Concern where she supports strategic partnership with Baltimore City nonprofits, community organizations, and government agencies across all CSC programming. Her portfolio includes partnership development and programming, database management, and community impact assessment and evaluation. Nairuti also serves as the staff advisor to Baltimore First, the Center’s premier student-led individualized direct service program. In her previous role as the Student Leadership & Development Coordinator, Nairuti oversaw all large-scale service event programming, including the President’s Day of Service and HopServe50, and championed student-facing programming promoting a culture of active citizenship at Johns Hopkins. With a background in community-based research, advocacy work, and social justice education, Nairuti continues her work at the CSC with a steadfast commitment to restorative justice and collective liberation. Nairuti is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the College of William and Mary, where she earned her B.A. in Sociology, French & Francophone Studies, and Public Health in 2017. Her research interests include the postcolonial sociology, the South Asian diaspora, and social movements. Nairuti also serves on the leadership team of a number of community organizations, including Baltimore Asian Resistance in Solidarity (BARS) and Corner Team, Inc. (her beloved boxing gym).
