Rex LaMore is Director of the Michigan State University’s Center for Community Economic Development and a member of the faculty of the Urban and Regional Planning Program. Dr. LaMore has over 40 years of experience in Community and Economic Development and has focused his career on the unique challenges of revitalizing distressed communities and policies and practices related to promoting equitable and sustainable development.
He is the founding director of the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration University Center at Michigan State University, established in 2011 to co-create, disseminate and apply innovative economic development tools, models policies and practices http://www.reicenter.org in distressed communities and is the founder of the “Science of Domicology” a fundamentally new conception of the built environment and the life cycle of structures www.domicology.msu.edu
Dr. LaMore’s instructional roles include teaching Environmental Planning, and a new MSU course offering in Domicology.
Dr. LaMore served as President for the Michigan Association of Planning 2016-17 and continues today as a commissioner on the Williamstown Township Planning Commission which adopted the state’s first “Green Zone” land use classification.
He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees at Michigan State University and his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.

• Principal architect, U.S. Community Outreach Partnership Act of 1992. Worked with U.S. Senator Donald Riegle and Senate Banking and Urban Affairs Committee staff to write and enact the Community Outreach Partnership Act. Modeled after Michigan State University's Center for Community and Economic Development. This Act funded over 100 university/community partnerships throughout the United States.

• Inaugural recipient of the Simmons Chivukula Award for Academic Leadership, “For exemplary work in Academic Leadership, Michigan State University, 2018.
• Economic Development Association’s Annual Award of Excellence in Economic Development Partnerships “MSU EDA University Center for Regional Economic Innovation” August, 2015 Anchorage AL.
